CPR resuscitation mask — quick answers
What is this used for?
It’s a compact CPR resuscitation mask that lets a first aider give rescue breaths safely during CPR. The one-way valve protects the rescuer from backflow of air and bodily fluids from the patient.
What’s the difference between a CPR mask and a face shield?
A face shield is a flat plastic barrier — pocket-sized and single-use. A mask like this one is a moulded device that seals over the mouth and nose for a better seal, clearer airway and more effective breaths. It’s supplied in a protective hard case.
Can it be reused?
No — for infection control, the mask is treated as single-patient use and replaced after a rescue. The hard case keeps it clean and protected so it’s ready when you need it. Keep a spare on hand so your kit is never without one.
Should this go in a first aid kit?
Yes — a CPR barrier is a first aid kit essential. The compact hard case makes it easy to keep in a kit, glovebox, gym bag or workplace first aid station, ready if someone needs resuscitation.
Do I need training to use it?
The mask is simple to use, but rescue breaths are best delivered by someone trained in CPR. If you’d like to arrange CPR training for your workplace or community group, our paramedic team can point you in the right direction.
